Welcome Friends & Neighbors

The official website of the FFH Foundation

Welcome to www.FFH Foundation.org the official web site of the Farmington/Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth and Families.

We are a privately funded, charitable organization that has been serving the Farmington community with quality programs since 1995. In the past two years we have grown enormously and plan many exciting programs for you this coming year. We'd like to share some of our history with you and the many benefits of FFH Foundation giving and community involvement. Grant, donation,  and public event information is available through out our website. Let's get acquainted!

Executive Director Retiring

Search Committee Appointed

Barbara Yuhas, Executive Director of the Farmington/Farmington Hills Foundation, will be retiring early in 2012. Yuhas joined the Foundation in 2003. "This has been a phenomenal experience," said Yuhas. "I’ve had the opportunity to work with a truly committed, supportive Board, had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people who make this great community the place it is. And where else would I have the opportunity to accompany Mama Duck on her appearances around town?"

Heart & Soul 2012

The place to be on February 11

The holidays are right around the corner. What do we look forward to after that – the Winter Gala, what else? Don’t think about ice and snow and gloomy days. Think about the very glamorous Gala – the dramatic Sellers Buick GMC showroom, seeing old friends and making new ones, the gourmet dinner and the lively auction. Of course, there’s the opportunity to support the grant program of the Foundation and, maybe, a few surprises. This year’s co-chairs are Bill and Doris Dwyer and Anne Lehker and Sam Slaughter, and they will be joined by a host of enthusiastic volunteers. The date is Saturday. February 11.

2012 Gala Honoree

Walter Gajewski to receive the Riley Award for Altruism

A very special part of the Gala will be awarding the 2012 RILEY AWARD FOR ALTRUISM to Walter Gajewski. The first award was made in 2010 when Dolores and George Riley were honored for their many contributions to the Farmington/Farmington Hills community. The award, which has become "The Riley Award for Altruism" recognizes there are generous, selfless people who lift the standards of our community higher without compensation and often without recognition. This year Walter Gajewski will be honored for his contributions to the development and growth of downtown Farmington. He serves on the Board of the Farmington Downtown Development Authority. Saturday mornings in the summer find Walt managing the Downtown Farmers Market and in the fall he welcomes guests to the Harvest Moon Celebration. As one of his colleagues said, "Walt’s passion and commitment is to ensure a better future for Farmington and Farmington Hills."

2011 Rubber Duck Race

Lucky Number 7

The ducks were the lucky ones on Sunday, July 17. They were in the water, those of us on the shore roasted. The liquid refreshments sold by the Optimist Club and Kona Ice were most welcome. Hundreds of spectators lined the river bank, seeking shade and shelter. But the usual festivities were observed -- admiring the decoy ducks, loading the dump truck, "mixing" the ducks and then chasing them down the river. When all was said and done, it was another wonderful event.
